A second criminal investigation into actions by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been ordered by the attorney general. Olmert is accused of using his influence to obtain permits for a builder in return for a heavy discount on a luxury apartment in a trendy Jerusalem neighborhood. The prime minister is also under investigation for allegedly using his office as finance minister to influence the sale of the nation’s largest bank in favor of two associates. Olmert denies both sets of allegations.
