A Jewish Israeli man who had previously negotiated a plea after being charged with murder for his involvement in a 2015 case of arson in which a toddler and his parents died, has now been convicted of membership in a terrorist organization. The victims were 18-month old Ali Saad Dawashba and his parents. The defendant was tried as a minor because he was 17 years of age at the time of the incident. Accordingly, his name is not included in media reports. The group named as a terrorist organization is referred to as the “Hilltop youths,” and are known to Israelis as an ultra-nationalist group of young people number about 100 and frequently named as perpetrators of anti-Palestinian vandalism and occasionally, violent attacks.
