Israeli Defense Minister: Gaza Operation Destroyed 80% of Hamas Armaments

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon partially answered the burning question “How was Hamas able to fire more than 100 rockets in a single day at the end of the 50-day Operation Protective Edge?” when he told a security conference that his army destroyed all but about 20% of the weaponry in Hamas arsenals. Ya’alon cited as another major achievement the killing of “40 senior Hamas officials and 10 from Islamic Jihad.” Responding to another sore spot for the Gaza ground operation’s brain trust consisting of Ya’alon, Prime Minister Netanyahu and army chief-of-staff Benny Gantz, Ya’alon denied that the rest of the government was left out of the loop in making war-related decisions. He said the cabinet met several times and was updated at key intervals.
