The management of the Palestinian newspaper Al Ayyam, based in Ramallah, says Israeli soldiers entered their building on Wednesday and demanded that it stop printing three Gaza-based pro-Hamas newspapers that are printed in Al Ayyam's plant. In a statement, Al Ayyam's managers said they were told that the Israelis will not allow the printing and distribution of the Hamas publications. Al Ayyam's role in printing the Gaza-based papers is part of the reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas. Prior to the reconciliation, Hamas papers were banned in the West Bank and Fatah papers were banned in the Gaza Strip.
