Israeli Journalist Quotes Anonymous Sources Reporting Saudi Prince’s Admonition to Palestinians

An Israeli journalist has kicked-off a media maelstrom with his report that the Saudi crown prince has told the Palestinians to “accept American proposals or shut up and stop complaining.” Veteran journalist Barak Ravid, now a correspondent with Israel’s Channel 10 television, is both reputable and widely respected for his work. He based his report on what he claims were access to a diplomatic cable sent to Jerusalem from the Israeli Consulate in New York and the testimonies of three anonymous individuals who “were briefed about the meeting.” According to the report, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told a Jewish group he addressed that, “In the last several decades the Palestinian leadership has missed one opportunity after the other and rejected all the peace proposals it was given. It is about time the Palestinians take the proposals and agree to come to the negotiations table or shut up and stop complaining.” The prince also admonished Palestinian leadership that the looming confrontation with Iran is a far more important issue for Arab governments and populace alike than the issues relating to the Palestinian confrontation with Israel.
