Israeli Kidnapped in Nigeria

The Israeli Embassy in Lagos has sent a team to the city of Port Harcourt to deal with the matter of an Israeli businessman who was abducted at gunpoint in the Nigerian city on Tuesday. The victim is described as a 6-year old man who has been in the African nations for several years working in construction. He was abducted as he returned to his home after attending an event at the governor’s residence. No one has taken responsibility for the kidnapping and there have been no demands made. While the kidnapping comes amid a spate of intelligence reports indicating that Hizbullah has been planning to snatch Israelis who are traveling outside of Israel, kidnapping is commonplace in Nigeria, with more than 200 reported during the past year. Israeli security experts have warned that politically-motivated acts against Israelis are most likely in Third World nations.
