Israeli Leaders – Former Army Chiefs-of-Staff — Hit by Hackers

I
sraeli leaders are having a tough time keeping their personal communications out of the hands of the Iranians. General (Ret) Benny Gantz, a former army chief-of-staff and candidate for prime minister in the April 9 election, made the news last week when it was revealed that hackers attacked his telephone and all of the information it contained is now copied to Tehran. Security officials warned the general that a security risk exists and that it is possible Iran will release confidential or embarrassing information before the election to embarrass Gantz or Israel; or after the election. While Gantz was hacked by Iranian intelligence operatives, former prime minister and chief-of-staff Ehud Barak was hacked and the information obtained sold by the third-party thieves to Iranian intelligence. The news report revealing the hacking also reported that nothing considered to be embarrassing was taken by the hackers. It was also stressed that Gantz was long past active service when the incident occurred.
