Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilna’i said on Saturday that a military incursion into the Gaza Strip was becoming increasingly inevitable. He was reacting to the latest breach of the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas: a mortar barrage aimed at an Israel military base that cost one soldier his leg and wounded six others. Vilna’i said, "There’s no doubt we are approaching a huge military operation in the Gaza Strip." The cease-fire went into effect on June 19, and for the most part held until early November. Since that time, rocket fire has resumed and Israel has launched a number of military operations.
