Israeli Police Remand 12- and 13-Year Old in Fire Bombing of Palestinian Car

Two boys, age 12 and 13, were taken into custody by Israeli police on Sunday, charged with throwing the Molotov cocktail that set a Palestinian vehicle on fire and serious wounded its six passengers earlier this month. The boys are residents of Bat Ayin, located in the area Israel acquired in the 1967 war and which Palestinians view as part of their future state. The case against the suspects is said to be weak, the presiding judge commenting that there is no substantial material evidence that would allow authorities to hold them for more than 24 hours. The pair denies any involvement in the incident, called a “terrorist attack” by an Israeli cabinet minister.
