Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has asked United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to intercede in the Palestinian decision to bring charges against Israel and Israelis before the International Criminal Court. After a meeting in New York, Rivlin told the Israeli YNet news service that he expressed his incredulity that terrorist organizations “who slaughter their own people” could accuse Israeli soldiers when Hamas fired rockets from schools, hospitals and houses of worship.” There was no response by Ban according to Rivlin. On Wednesday, Rivlin is scheduled to address the UN Security Council in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
