Israeli Report: Syrian Recruits are Ticking Time Bomb

A new study from the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center found that a total of 7,000 – 8,0000 non-Syrians volunteers are currently fighting against Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Of these, 5000 come from Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Iraq and the Gulf states. The report found that almost all of the fighters are joining jihadi groups – either the Al-Nusra Front, which is associated with al-Qa’ida, or its rival, the State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS). The Israeli study said some of these fighters have already begun to return to their countries and set up local jihadi networks.
