Israeli Rescue Team Arrives in Florida

An Israeli rescue delegation arrived on Sunday at the site of the collapsed building at Surfside, Florida, looking to aid ongoing efforts to find survivors among the 152 missing condo residents. According to Jerusalem’s Foreign Ministry, the team will “cooperate with local authorities in lifesaving efforts by mapping out the destruction site, assisting the Jewish community in identifying victims and survivors, and supporting local forces.” Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai leads the group of disaster-trained soldiers and civilians. After touching down in Miami, he met with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Rick Scott and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “We are discussing how to best continue with search efforts and meet community needs,” Shai said. “I expressed my deep sadness and message that the State of Israel is here to help in any way we can.”
