Israeli Troops Raid Weapons Workshop in West Bank

Israeli troops, along with the border police and Shin Bet intelligence, raided a weapons workshop in the West Bank city of Hebron. An Israeli army spokesman said that eight lathes for manufacturing weapons were seized and dismantled. “This operation represents just one of many operations being conducted in the Judea region each night to seize illegal workshops and weapons,” the army said. Military officials said they believe that most of the shooting attacks which have occurred both inside the West Bank and in Israel recently were carried out with weapons that are locally produced in the West Bank. In a separate incident an Israeli soldier was wounded during clashes with Palestinian residents in the Jenin refugee camp. The Palestinians threw pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank during an arrest raid early Thursday morning, the army said. According to Palestinian media, two suspected Hamas members Muhammed and Ahmed As’ad Abu Khalifa were arrested by IDF forces during the raid. The army said that nine wanted Palestinians were also arrested in an overnight operation with Border Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), including six who were wanted over suspected involvement in terrorism, mass disturbances, and violence towards civilians. Another Palestinian, who was arrested in al-Hashimia, north of the West Bank city of Jenin, is suspected of being a member of Hamas, the army said.
