Israel‘s Central Bureau of Statistics has released the latest census figures for Israel‘s Christian population. As of Christmas Eve, it stood at 148,000, or 1.2 percent of the total population; 120,000 are Christian Arabs, while others are Russians and Ethiopians who emigrated to Israel with Jewish family members under the Law of Return. Christians hold the distinction of having the highest number of children matriculating of any religious sector; 65% of Christian Israeli children are at school, compared to 55% in the Jewish community and 45% in the Muslim sector.
