Israel‘s largest bank has severed all ties to the Gaza Strip, citing the government’s designation of Gaza as a "hostile entity." Because the Israeli shekel is the currency used in the Palestinian territories, it must have a source for the currency. If the severing of Gaza operations by Bank Hapoalim is followed by other Israeli banks the results could be devastating to Palestinian banks in Gaza.
