Israel successfully launched its new Amos-3 communications satellite aboard a rocket sent into space from Kazakhstan on Monday. With Israeli President Shimon Peres looking on, the successor to the Amos-1 and Amos-2 was put to work for the next 18 years at a cost of $170 million.
