Members of Israel’s defense echelon are struggling to assess whether Hamas leader Yachya Sinwar’s latest pronouncement constitutes a warning about what could happen or a promise that requires everyone to be alert for an imminent series of events. Speaking to a rally, Gaza-based Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar said he has “many tricks” and that Israeli leaders will “make them curse the day they were born.” He elaborated by adding that it was Israeli intelligence and not Hamas that needs to worry because Hamas has set “hundreds of thousands” of traps waiting for Israeli soldiers along with “hundreds of miles of attack tunnels” that Israelis searching for them have no idea where they are. Sinwar claims his armament can turn Tel Aviv into a “ghost town” while firing missiles for six months in a row.”
