A 30-year-old Jewish student was hospitalized with facial fractures after being assaulted by a 23-year-old pro-Palestinian student during a heated argument about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Berlin last Friday.
Berlin Police reported that the argument between the two students turned violent when the pro-Palestinian student repeatedly struck the Jewish student in the face, causing him to fall, and then continued to kick him while he was on the ground. The assailant fled the scene but was later apprehended by police at his home in Schöneberg, where evidence, including his smartphone, was seized.
Germany’s commissioner for combating antisemitism expressed grave concern over the spike in hatred against Jewish people, with the Federal Criminal Police Office recording over 1,100 such incidents from October 7 through December 21.
