A new Jewish-themed Disneyland-like amusement park is slated to be built in the southern Israeli city of Dimona. The “Park of Wonders,” which is in the advanced stages of planning, is being designed by the same company that developed Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida. “The park will have the same rides and the same layout,” according to Lea Malul, CEO of the project. It will contain five “worlds”—called Oasis, World of Spirits, World of the Jewish Nation, World of Society and the World of Time—each with four or five attractions. The estimated $400 million initiative will be funded primarily by private investors, although the Israeli government has been approached to kick in. But don’t pack your bags just yet, as the necessary permits still have to be acquired, a process that could take another year or two.
