Israeli police have revealed that six Jewish youth who reside in an Israeli West Bank community have been arrested and have admitted to carrying out a series of security offenses – some say “hate crimes” – against Palestinian targets between 2008 and 2009. The offenses include hurling Molotov cocktails at Palestinian homes, torching vehicles and assaulting Palestinians. The offenders have re-enacted some of the crimes for police, as is the local police custom. The ages of those arrested, three of whom are brothers and whose father is the community’s rabbi, range from 22 to 16 years of age. The investigation is continuing on the suspicion that the group carried out other crimes as well.
