Jews en Route from Joseph’s Tomb Shot-at; One Dead, Five Wounded Apparently by Palestinian Security Officers

A group of Hasidic Jews en route home from prayers at the traditional site of Joseph’s tomb near the West Bank city of Nablus in the early hours of Sunday morning came under attack by Palestinians firing from a four-wheel-drive vehicle. One man was killed and five were wounded. The three-car convoy raced to an Israeli army post when the shooting broke out. One of the injured received a life-threatening wound to the abdomen and underwent emergency surgery after being airlifted to a hospital from the army post. Israeli news sources are reporting that the incident appears to have been the result of a lack of coordination between the Israelis and Palestinian security forces – the latter who were apparently in the chase vehicle that shot at the Israeli convoy. Both the Palestinians and Israelis are investigating.
