Officials in Jordan have announced that more 15,000 soldiers from 18 armies will participate in joint military exercises in the kingdom within the next month. Dubbed “Eager Lion 2013,” the event will feature “battlefield, logistics and humanitarian exercises for soldiers representing nations that include the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada among Western nations as well as a number of armies from the Arab world. The massive exercise takes place while the civil war rages in neighboring Syria, with an estimated one-half million of its citizens having taken refuge in Jordan.
