The lower house of the Jordanian parliament has called for a re-assessment of the country’s ties to Israel unless the offensive in the Gaza Strip ends. Sentiment against the Israeli operation has been running high, with public protests aimed both at Israel and at Egypt for its cooperation with Israel. Trade unionists will march on Tuesday to the office of the prime minister to demand that the 1994 peace treaty between Jordan and Israel be scrapped.
