Kerry, Iran’s Zarif Meet; No Results Reported

Following a two-hour meeting in Geneva on Sunday with US Secretary of State John Kerry, the best that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif  could come up with to describe the session was that it “produced good discussions but no agreements.” A second session is being held on Monday before the SecState returns to Washington. Prior to the current round of talks, Kerry said that President Obama would consider walking away from the table if there was no guarantee of Iran giving up its interest in creating nuclear weapons. The next target milestone is a framework agreement by the end of March. If that does not happen, chances are the US Congress will find itself at loggerheads with President Obama over adding additional sanctions which the White House says will scuttle the diplomatic process.
