United States First Lady Laura Bush is spending the week in the Middle East as part of her campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer and the fight against it. Her visit takes her to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan. Breast cancer is the largest killer of women in the region and back in the U.S. Bush’s mother and grandmother both had the illness. She is promoting the U.S.-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research, an initiative of the U.S. State Department.
