The Lebanese cabinet has decided to replace its ties with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) with formal diplomatic relations with the "state of Palestine." The decision followed a marathon cabinet session on Thursday. Although no date has been set for the establishment of relations, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry has been ordered to begin the process. With 12 refugee camps housing 400,000 people within its borders, Lebanon has a major stake in the establishment of a Palestinian nation.
