Three Lebanese soldiers were shot to death by gunmen along the border with Syria overnight Monday. The incident occurred near the northeastern town of Arsal, which is considered to be a stronghold of support for Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in his struggle against opposition forces. Lebanon has struggled to maintain neutrality despite the total support the powerful Hizbullah terrorist organization, a key player in the Lebanese government, for Assad. A Lebanese woman was killed in an attack by mortars fired from Syria on Monday; and two missiles landed inside of a Hizbullah-controlled Beirut neighborhood last week. Two other soldiers were killed in a shooting in February.
