Lebanese media is reporting that a unity cabinet in the Lebanese government may be formed within the next 48 hours. Talks about government formation have long been strained after the June 7 elections, when the March 14 coalition gained a majority of seats. MPs have spoken out against international meddling, which they believe has hindered the process. American and European meddling, they say, has done much more harm than good. A source close to the opposition coalition told The Daily Star that contrary to previous reports, it is unlikely that the 15-10-5 formula, which gives the March 14 coalition 15 ministers, the opposition 10, and the president five, will be implemented. Nor will opposition members demand veto power in the next government, the source said.
