As The Media Line reported at the start of the week, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has been in Iran over the past couple of days in yet another sign of the warming relations between Tehran and Beirut. During a visit to Iran’s Defense Ministry, Suleiman said he was “willing to employ Iran’s know-how in defense and military domains to defy threats,” according to the Iranian ISNA news agency. Suleiman also used his visit to suggest that Israel had been actively attempting to create divisions between the various factions in Lebanon as a way of gaining revenge for “Lebanon’s victory” in the summer war of 2006. Fighting was between Israel and Hizbullah, with the official Lebanese forces not getting involved.
