Lockerbie Bomber Found on Brink of Death

Libyan Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Al-Megrahi was reportedly found near death in Tripoli, connected to oxygen and an intravenous device and fading in and out of consciousness. The BBC and CNN reported that the 57-year-old former Libyan intelligence officer was being cared for by his family. He was released by Scotland in 2009 on grounds he only had a few months to live but long after that was seen in Libya appearing healthy. Meanwhile, Libyan rebels were advancing on Qaddafi’s home town of Sirte where many believe the beleaguered dictator and his closest aides may be hiding. A large number of Qaddafi loyalists are reported to be in the town, and rebels will need at least 10 days to capture it if it doesn’t surrender.
