Only hours after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Peshawar, a powerful car bomb exploded in a crowded market place killing at least 100. The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Taliban. Clinton’s visit is aimed at shoring up strained U.S.-Pakistan relations. The blast was the latest in a series of Taliban attacks during the past month that have left more than 300 dead. Targets included a university, an army base and an army installation. As the violence mounts, Pakistanis are seeing the relationship with the United States as part of the problem rather than the solution. They blame the U.S. for causing the Taliban and Al-Qa’ida to attack by pressing the Pakistani government to defeat them. Others accuse India of supporting the anti-Pakistan violence.
