Maximum Security Wins $10 Million at World’s Richest Saudi Horse Race

Maximum Security on Saturday won the world’s richest horse race, claiming the $10 million top prize at the first-ever Saudi Cup. Held at the King Abdul Aziz Racetrack in Riyadh and attended by Saudi King Salman, jockey Luis Saez rode the four-year-old horse to victory. Midnight Bisou and Godolphin’s Benbatl finished second and third, respectively, collecting $3.5 million and $2 million. Other horses placing fourth through tenth shared the remaining $4.5 million. The event comes four weeks ahead of the Dubai World Cup, another of the world’s richest horse races, with a total estimated prize pool of $12 million.
