Military Censor Allows Report Of Serious Injuries To Captured Israelis

For the first time since their capture on July 12, Israelis have reason to fear that Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser are dead. The military censor allowed a reference to be made in a report on the kidnapping, which triggered a 34-day war against Hizbullah in Lebanon, that both soldiers were wounded in the attack, one critically. It did not identify which of the two soldiers received the more severe injuries. Negotiations to repatriate the soldiers appear to be at a standstill due to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s refusal to talk before receiving signs of life. The U.N. resolution that ended the war and required that the soldiers be released unconditionally has been ignored by Hizbullah.
