Monday’s Rocket Tally in Southern Israel Grows

As the Gaza Strip violence continues to escalate, at least 14 rockets had been counted flying toward Israel from Gaza within a single half-hour on Monday around noon time. The Iron Dome anti-missile system was kept busy as the incoming flew by, one projectile hitting a kindergarten playground in the border community of Sderot and one hitting a house in the same community. No injuries except a case of shock were reported. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had some tough words for the Gaza-based terrorists including threatening a “war” if necessary to restore quiet to the enclave, but many on both sides of the border dismissed much of what he said as campaign rhetoric given the proximity of the 3rd election to try to create a government – balloting is on March 2. Nevertheless, the PM warned that if Hamas and Islamic Jihad goad Israel into another ground operation, they will have unleashed the “mother of all operations.” The warnings don’t appear to have much effect, though. Monday’s onslaught of firepower follows Israeli air strikes not only in the Gaza Strip but inside of Syria as well, killing six terrorists.
