More Qassam Rockets Fired; Condition of Two Injured Teens Improves

Israel‘s departure from its policy of restraint in the face of incoming Qassam attacks did not deter Palestinians from launching three rockets late Wednesday. One of the three was aimed at the Ashqelon industrial zone that was hit twice this week, but Wednesday’s rocket fell short. Although Israeli officials had earlier announced that those launching rockets were again fair game for the army, there were no reports of Israeli army action against those responsible for Wednesday’s launchings. Doctors in Israel report improvement in the condition of both teenagers who were severely wounded by Qassam rockets on Tuesday. The 14-year-old who was in critical condition is now said to be stable after multiple surgeries and the medical teams appear to have saved the leg of the other teen. Also on Wednesday, the Israel Manufacturers Association called on the government to pay for the fortification of factories in Sderot – the area most often targeted by Qassam rockets. The association’s chairman demanded that in addition to paying to fortify factories, the government should also provide armored transportation for factory workers and suspend the property tax factory that owners pay.
