Morocco Bans Festivals, Cultural Activities to Prevent Spread of COVID-19

Morocco has banned festivals and other cultural activities in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The temporary ban was announced over the weekend to “maintain the positive results the country has achieved so far” in keeping the pandemic at bay, the Morocco World News has reported. The announcement also called on citizens to get vaccinated and to continue measures such as social distancing to prevent its spread. Moroccan authorities last week banned incoming passenger flights for two weeks, following the discovery of the omicron variant.  Meanwhile, on Sunday a Jordanian court sentenced the director of a state hospital to three years in jail over the deaths in March of 10 coronavirus patients after the hospital ran out of oxygen.
