Morocco Intercepts Over 1.4 Tons of Cocaine in Major Anti-Drug Operation

Moroccan police, in collaboration with Spanish security forces, have confiscated 1.448 tons (3,280 pounds) of cocaine at the Tangier-Med Port in northern Morocco. The contraband was ingeniously concealed within banana boxes inside a shipping container on a vessel that originated from South America, destined for Turkey. This substantial seizure occurred on Tuesday, shortly following another major bust where nearly 363 kilograms of cocaine were intercepted at the Moroccan border with Mauritania. Morocco is increasingly recognized as a crucial transit point for South American drugs en route to Europe. The Moroccan police, in a statement, disclosed that the seized cocaine was packed in 1,277 tablets on a ship registered under a European flag. The ongoing investigations aim to identify all individuals implicated in this expansive international drug smuggling network.
