Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has told the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations that fixing the Palestinian issue was the key to solving all Middle East-related conflicts. Asked about solving the Iraqi crisis, Musharraf replied that, "The root of all of them, whether Iraq or Afghanistan or Lebanon lies in Palestine. I think we should fight at solving Palestine first." He opined that the Palestinian issue was "the core which is driving people to extremism and terrorism, which is driving people to be suicide bombers, which is even driving people to these subway bombings in London or anywhere in the world." Musharraf also tasked the Muslim world, the West and the United States in particular, saying that, "The Muslim world must reject extremism and work towards social and economic reform… the West, and the United States in particular, [must] resolve political disputes in the Muslim world justly.”
