NATO Prepared to Send Troops to Turkey

NATO’s Secretary General said that it was prepared to send troops to Turkey to defend that member state after several violations of Turkish after several violations of Turkish airspace by Russian jets. Those Russian planes were allegedly bombing Islamic State targets in Syria, although the US says that over 90 percent of the Russian attacks have actually targeted other armed groups that are fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. NATO also accused Russia of escalating the civil war in Syria that has already killed 250,000 people. NATO Defense Ministers are meeting in Brussels and the Syria crisis will top the agenda. Turkey is the only Muslim member of NATO and has the largest military of the alliance after the US.
