Netanyahu and Gantz to Parley about Unity Government

Although neither incumbent Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu or would-be-successor Benny Gantz wanted to be the first to be given the mandate to create a government, neither was willing to share power if they did not have the first turn. On Sunday, after Netanyahu handed the baton back to the President and Gantz began his 28-day effort to amass more than 60 seats in parliament in order to form a government, the two men will sit down and see if they can come to terms and create a unity government which presumably will include a stint in the PM’s seat for each one in turn. Netanyahu made news before the meeting when he appointed himself the diaspora affairs minister. He already holds the top job in a number of ministries including: prime minister, defense minister, acting minister of labor, social affairs and social services.
