Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that Syria’s use of chemical weapons against its own people shows what could happen if Iran obtains nuclear weapons. “What we see in Syria is how extremist regimes have no reservations whatsoever about using these weapons even when they use them against innocent civilians, against their own people,” Netanyahu said. “In the end, the extremists use these weapons. So we must prevent them from having these weapons.”

Netanyahu was speaking before a meeting with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. After the meeting Fabius said there was no doubt that the Assad regime used chemical weapons in the attack last week and called for a “strong response.”
