Either the pollster got it wrong in December or the Palestinian people are moving away from condoning violence against Israelis, but either way many are either applauding a new survey or breathing a sigh of relief. The polling released on Sunday by the Awrad organization reveals that 42% of Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip favor another “Intifada” [violent uprising], down from 63% in December. A second opinion agency reported in December that two-thirds of the Palestinians favored the “armed struggle against Israel.” Over all, it appears that the Palestinian street is heavily disposed to holding national elections in order to select new leadership.
