The New York Times is reporting that the United States, the European Union and Israel are far from being on the same page regarding Iran’s plans to create nuclear weapons. In a story on Monday, the Times suggests that France and Germany are in agreement with Israel regarding Iran’s intent to “weaponize” its nuclear program. But the United States continues to insist that Iran ended its efforts to create nuclear weapons in 2003. The assessment also suggests that the Obama administration is trying to convince the Israelis that Iran has suffered a serious blow because of the revelation of its secret nuclear plant and that the revelation itself is cause to allow the U.S. more time for diplomacy. Syria, meanwhile, has again called for Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
