No Evidence Of Accomplices In Eilat Bombing

Israeli security officials now say there is no evidence that the suicide bomber who killed three people in Eilat on Monday had any accomplices. At first it was feared that more than one bomber had infiltrated into Israel and that one or more might still be at-large in Eilat. Investigators also believe the bomber entered from Egypt rather than Jordan as had been suspected earlier. Securing the porous border between Israel and Egypt became a priority on Tuesday when Defense Minister Amir Peretz ordered stepped-up security on routes into Eilat and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was said to be considering the options to upgrade overall border security. On Tuesday, Olmert met with the heads of various security services and authorized the army to move against the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. But analysts at The Media Line caution against expecting any major operation in Gaza. Olmert will be careful not to upset the truce between Israel and other Palestinian factions or relinquish the international goodwill that has come from failing to respond to armed attacks since the cease-fire went into effect in November.
