An 85-year-old former engineer who passed classified information to Israel while he worked for the U.S. Army in the 1980s will not serve jail time. Ben-Ami Kadish pleaded guilty to charges of passing classified documents, the same charges that resulted in a sentence of life with no parole for Jonathan Pollard, who has been incarcerated for the past 27 years and who answered to the same Israeli “handler.” The U.S. District Judge hearing the Kadish case referred to it as being “shrouded in mystery” and said prosecutors could have sought a more severe penalty. Kadish will pay a $50,000 fine.
