Farah Pandith, a career State Department official who immigrated to the United States from India as a child, has been named President Obama’s Special Representative to Muslim Communities. The announcement was made on Friday by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Ms. Pandith is charged with reaching out to American Muslim communities and “will play a leading role in our efforts to engage Muslims around the world," according to Clinton.
