Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will undergo surgery for prostate cancer after President George W. Bush’s Mideast summit in Annapolis is held. The parley is presently scheduled for the end of the month, but there are indications that it will be pushed back to December. On Monday Olmert told the nation in a live news conference that he had been diagnosed with the disease. Appearing on television with his physicians, Olmert said his situation was not life threatening and he expected to make a complete recovery. Olmert reportedly told U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who telephoned to ask about his health, that his medical condition would not affect the Annapolis conference. There are no plans for radiation or chemotherapy treatment.
