Palestinian security forces under the control of Prime Minister Salam Faya’d claim to have foiled what might have been a major attack on Israel or Palestinian targets by Hamas. The Israeli news site YNet is reporting that a Palestinian official said a massive arms cache that was discovered in the West Bank city of Nablus included hundreds of pounds of explosives, weapons and ammunition. The cache was found after a Hamas operative was arrested and brought security officials to the location. Israeli army troops discovered three anti-vehicle mines set along the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The explosive devices, which officials believe were placed in position very recently, were disarmed by army sappers.
