The Palestinian Authority will declare the city of Jerusalem to be the “Islamic Youth Capital” in a ceremony on Tuesday at the “Muqata,” the presidential compound where the office of Mahmoud Abbas is located. The event is apparently designed to accentuate Palestinian ties to Jerusalem in the wake of President Trump’s declaration that the ancient city is the capital of Israel. In a showing of solidarity, the announcement reports that representatives of Arab nations will be on hand as the declaration is made “in the presence of the Palestinian president” and attended by “ministers of Arab and Islamic nations.” The event is being televised live.
