Palestinian Doctor Released by Libya Describes Torture

The Palestinian doctor who was held by Libya for eight years along with five Bulgarian nurses on charges that they intentionally infected Libyan children with AIDS, vividly described the horrific torture he was subjected to in testimony before French judges. The French news agency AFP viewed his testimony and reported the details on Friday. The six were finally released in July 2007 after then-French first lady Cecilia Sarkozy intervened. The torture, most of which took place while the victim was blindfolded, included having his fingernails ripped out, electroshocks and being raped by a German Shepherd dog.
